This was my first time reading Sputnik Sweetheart or any other Murakami's, and I was literally blown away. I've finished the book in just 3 days. Yep, a very intense 3 days, which kinda a record for some lazy ass - distracted women like me (yeay, for me. I guess).
I was mesmerized by everything the book contains. It was like a bundle of beautiful words arrange in a way to create a river full of metaphor. But what really get into me is the feeling i got while i reading them. The feeling is somehow familiar. So familiar that it almost feel like somewhere in the back of my mind i knew whats gonna happen next. So familiar that it felt like I've experienced them in my previous life.

I can even tell right from the very beginning that K is a true Sagittarius, and DANG! i was right. It was told that K born in 9 december on the last chapter.
I am a huge fan myself of platonic love, and that hopelessly romantic feelings K has for Sumire, his unrequited love and their endless mid night long talks of nonsense is pictured so sincere and gracful yet ironic enough for you to take a hard grip on the pages and have them ripped.
The hoplessly romantic platonic kind of love might sound pretty ironic and depressing, but Sputnik was an irony itself.
In Russian Sputnik means "Travel Companion". While it was also the name for Russian manmade sattelite, which was launched all by itself to the outer space to orbit the earth. No companion.
Then it lefts wander. K is a sags, as a sags myself i know that to live is to travel. That life itself is a long journey one must travelled (unless for those who are lucky enough to die young). That boring daily routines of yours is your journey, it doesnt always mean that you gotta leave the country and leave your home forever. Your life is a map and you are the pilot, you can choose whichever route you wanna choose.
Like the old saying said no journey is great enough without a great travel companion. At the end of the day all you need is that one person you can share your journey with. That ideal platonic kind of love, that is so pure and sincere. To find that travel companion who will listen to your story for hour and remembered every detailed of it. A person that makes you feel the more you talk to him the more you know better of yourself. Just like K and Sumire.
You might start your journey all by yourself just like the Sputnik sattelite, but who knows you might find your Sputnik sweetheart along the way.
The writing is getting nowhere i know. This one is for my sputnik sweetheart. you now me better than anyone would do not even myself. And i hope you have found yours too.
